Meaning
We
now return once again to the divine ocean of Harikathamrutasara through
a fascinating science angle. In the previous Mantralaya Series, we
explored the spiritual and science depth of Mangalacharana Sandhi and
the boundless compassion flowing through Karuna Sandhi. Now, we enter
one of the most breathtaking and spiritually elevating sections of the
Harikathamrutasara, the Vyapti Sandhi.
Among
the countless spiritual treasures gifted to humanity by Sri Jagannatha
Dasaru, Vyapti Sandhi shines with extraordinary brilliance. It is not
merely philosophy. It is not merely poetry. It is a divine spiritual
vision poured into words by a realized saint whose heart was immersed
in Hari bhakti.
This Sandhi teaches devotees to look at
existence itself differently. It opens the eyes of the soul and
transforms the way one sees the universe, life, nature, and even
oneself.
The word Vyapti means all pervading presence, complete
permeation or divine pervasion. Through this immortal Sandhi, Sri
Jagannatha Dasaru reveals one of the grandest truths of Vedanta.
- Sri Hari alone pervades everything.
- Nothing exists independent of Him.
- Every movement in creation happens only because of His presence.
From
the highest celestial realms to the smallest invisible particle,
everything exists within the sustaining presence of Sri Hari.
Ordinarily,
people imagine God as residing only in temples, sacred idols, holy
rivers or distant heavenly worlds. But Vyapti Sandhi destroys this
limited understanding completely. Dasaru teaches that Sri Hari exists
everywhere, within every living being, within every force of nature,
within every breath, every thought, every movement, and every aspect of
existence itself.
- The fire burns because Sri Hari empowers it.
- The wind blows because Sri Hari directs it.
- The sun shines because Sri Hari sustains it.
- The mind thinks because Sri Hari illuminates it.
- Speech functions because Sri Hari enables it.
Life
itself exists because Sri Hari resides within all beings as Antaryami,
the Inner Controller. Without His presence, creation would become
silent, lifeless, and inert.
This is one of the most profound
teachings of Dvaita Vedanta. The world is real. Souls are real.
Differences are real. Yet nothing possesses independence from the
Supreme Lord. The universe is not divine by itself. It becomes sacred
because Hari pervades, sustains and governs it every single moment.
One
of the deepest concepts explained in Vyapti Sandhi is Antaryamitva, the
Lord dwelling within all beings and directing everything from within.
Sri Jagannatha Dasaru explains that every function in creation operates
only because Sri Hari exists internally as the source of all power,
awareness, intelligence, and consciousness. He exists within devas,
humans, animals, plants, elements, cosmic principles, and even within
matter that appears lifeless to ordinary eyes.
Yet despite
pervading everything, Sri Hari remains infinitely beyond creation
itself. Nothing can limit Him, contain Him, bind Him, or equal Him.
One
of the most awe inspiring aspects of Vyapti Sandhi is its cosmic
vision. Dasaru does not merely speak about Earth or human existence. He
reveals a vast and living universe filled with countless worlds,
celestial systems, devas, cosmic hierarchies and divine administration
functioning under the command of Sri Hari.
Nothing in existence is random.
- Every force moves under divine order.
- Every movement follows cosmic law.
- Every devata functions according to the will of the Supreme Lord.
The universe is not chaos. It is divine orchestration.
An
important feature of this Sandhi is the beautiful explanation of
devatas in Dvaita philosophy. Devas are never independent gods
competing with Hari. They are exalted servants functioning entirely
through His command.
- Through Brahma, creation unfolds.
- Through Vayu, life and movement are sustained.
- Through Rudra, dissolution related functions occur.
- Through Indra and countless other devas, cosmic administration continues.
This
grand structure is known as Taratamya, the divine hierarchy governing
existence. Yet above all stands only Hari, supreme, independent,
infinite, flawless, and unsurpassed.
Vyapti Sandhi also gives
extraordinary spiritual importance to the human body. Dasaru explains
that the body is not merely flesh, bone, blood, and nerves. Every
organ, every faculty, every nadi, every movement of prana, and every
sensory function operates through tattvabhimani devatas sustained by
Hari Himself.
- Suddenly life itself becomes sacred.
- Seeing becomes sacred.
- Hearing becomes sacred.
- Breathing becomes sacred.
- Thinking becomes sacred.
- Living itself becomes sacred.
The
devotee who truly understands Vyapti Sandhi no longer moves through
life casually. Every moment becomes an opportunity to remember the Lord.
The purpose of this Sandhi is not intellectual entertainment. It is a transformation of perception.
Ordinarily
people divide life into sacred and ordinary, spiritual and worldly,
temple and home. But after deeply contemplating Vyapti Sandhi, one
realizes there is no place where Hari is absent.
- The rivers flow because of Him.
- The clouds gather because of Him.
- The earth supports life because of Him.
- The heart beats because of Him.
- Knowledge arises because of Him.
- Even devotion toward Him happens only through His grace.
This
realization slowly destroys arrogance. One begins to understand that
nothing truly belongs to oneself. Every talent, every achievement,
every breath, every possession, and every success exists only through
the grace of the Lord.
From this understanding arise humility, gratitude, surrender, devotion, and inner peace.
The
Sandhi also beautifully reflects Narasimha tattva. Sri Jagannatha
Dasaru was an exalted devotee of Lord Narasimha, and the famous
incident of Narasimha emerging from the pillar perfectly illustrates
the essence of Vyapti.
The pillar appeared ordinary and
lifeless.Yet Hari existed even there. This carries an extraordinary
spiritual message. The Lord is present not only within living beings,
but even within matter that appears inert and empty. What appears
ordinary may conceal divinity. What appears empty is never truly
empty. The entire universe is filled with Him.
One of the
greatest beauties of Vyapti Sandhi is that despite its immense
philosophical depth, it never becomes dry or difficult. Sri Jagannatha
Dasaru transforms profound Vedantic truths into living devotional
experience. His poetry does not merely teach philosophy. It makes the
devotee emotionally feel the presence of Hari throughout creation.
As one reflects upon this Sandhi, the world itself begins to look different. The sky no longer feels empty.
- Nature no longer feels mechanical.
- Life no longer feels accidental.
- Creation itself becomes a revelation of Hari’s glory.
In
today’s world, human life is increasingly filled with anxiety,
isolation, materialism, confusion, and spiritual emptiness. Vyapti
Sandhi offers a deeply healing vision. It reminds humanity that
existence is not meaningless. Life is divinely sustained, purposeful,
interconnected, and filled with sacred presence.
Sri Hari is never absent. He accompanies every soul from within.
The
Sandhi also teaches deep reverence toward nature. Rivers, mountains,
forests, wind, rain, stars, oceans, and all elements of existence are
sustained through divine order. Nature is therefore not merely a
resource to exploit. It is part of a sacred cosmic harmony governed by
Sri Hari.
What makes Vyapti Sandhi even more fascinating today
is how beautifully certain aspects resonate with modern scientific
understanding.
Modern science increasingly reveals that the
universe is deeply interconnected. Physics tells us that invisible
forces and quantum fields silently pervade all space while governing
matter and energy. Biology reveals astonishing intelligence operating
within living systems. Astronomy reveals billions of galaxies spread
across unimaginable cosmic distances. Environmental science shows that
all life forms exist through delicate interdependence.
In the next Mantralaya Series we will explore the Vyapti through science angle.
If the entire essence of Vyapti Sandhi were expressed in one final realization, it would be this.
Sri
Hari alone is the inner life of the universe. He exists within all
while remaining beyond all. He sustains everything, governs everything,
protects worthy souls, and guides devotees toward liberation. The
devotee who truly understands Vyapti Sandhi no longer searches for God
only in distant heavens or sacred places. He begins to perceive Hari
everywhere, in breath, in knowledge, in nature, in devotion and in
every moment of existence itself. And from that divine vision arises
true bhakti.
The devotion towards
Sri Raghavendrateertharu is the ultimate truth and is the most simple
and effective way to reach Sri Hari - "NAMBI KETTAVARILLAVO EE
GURUGALA"! “Those who have complete faith in this Guru will never be
disappointed.”
