Guru Govinda Dasaru born in a poor family,lost his father Raghunatharaya at an early age. Mother Laxnmibai took pains,tolerated insult by their kith and kin, brought her only son Govindaraya, educated and moulded his personality in manifolds in Haribhakti. His creative capacity, stamina, zeal, inspiration, imagination were really wonderful.Now I wish to state his firm determination of Mantralaya Yatra.
After the completion of the Diploma Govindaraya married a sober girl by name Tulasi and got an appointment in the then Mysore Govt. PWD as a junior engineer.At that time he was often a prey for asthama.Though he took medicine again after some days that used to relapse. So Guru Govindaraya decided to go to Mantralaya surrender to Rayaru and perform sankalpa seva for three weeks. With this strong determination and desire made the preparations to go to Mantralaya.His first daughter Padmavati got chicken pox and high fever and became ill .Govindaraya’s mother asked him to cancel the Mantralaya tour (yatra).But Govindaraya did not listen to her. What ever things may occur and happen Rayaru is there to look after,So started the Journey to Mantralaya.
In the train Govindaraya himself suffered from asthama severely. His second daughter Kamala also became a prey for chicken pox.But never worried and never afraid.Reached Mantralaya Road Railway station.In those days it was called as Tungabhara Station.From there went to Mantralaya by bullock cart as the distance was about ten miles. This was in the year 1930.There were no facilities in Mantralaya.Only the Sri Matha choultry built by Diwan Venkanna were old. The Zinc Sheet roof was very hot in Summer .Took a room there. When Govindaraya had been to Mantralaya it was April, hot summer .The sand was so hot that was unable to walk without foot wear. In that atmosphere though Govindaraya lived in cool old Mysore area,adjusted himself soon. Took holy dip in the Tungabhadra in the morning and in the evening did Pradakshina Namaskara, each Pradakshina containing Eight Saashtanga Namaskaras. Like this daily about 25-30 Namaskaras with devotion chanting Bichchale Appanacharya’s Gurustotra, both in the morning and in the evening. Had one time Meal in Sri Matha. With intense Devotion Govindaraya performed Seva and surrendered to Rayaru.
As the Seva was in progress his daughters chickenpox and fever ran away. Even the Asthama problem of Govindaraya also was solved and cured.Slowly regained lot of strength by the blessings of Mantralaya Rayaru and attained divine power.Govindaraya strongly believed that this is nothing but the Miracle of Mantralayaru. As a result of all this happily, composed songs and danced on the soil of Mantralaya during the Sevas. It is memorable to note that the spark of DASA PRAVRATT I WAS LIGHTED IN Mantralaya only during this period. Govindaraya became quite hail and healthy, even Padmavati and Kamala were too cheerful. Mother Laxmibai was really astonished to see her son and grand daughters that how they have improved in their health since they came to Mantralaya. Always seeing Rayaru through the inward eyes immersed in the realm of Divine Panorama of Mantralaya Rayaru.
At the end of the third week Rayaru appeared in the dream of Laxmibai and said Your son’s Asthama is cured once for all, you will get a grandson soon saying this handed over Mantrakshatae.Next morning she detailed the dream to her son Govindaraya. His joy knew no bonds.
It is quite heartening to note that Rayaru cured his Asthama, made him healthy. To become Dasa one should have good health good plan and good Bhakti. BHAKTI-SHAKTI-YUKTI to attain Mukti to become Dasa.
Govindaraya later became a great Hari Dasa as Guru Govinda Dasaru with Guru Govinda Vithala Ankita composed Abundant songs, keertanas which are very popular today:
"Baarayya Baa Baa Budha Jana Gaeya Hae Gururaya" is sung every where which is full of Bhakti and depicts how Rayaru gave Darshana to Sir Thomas Munro. Thus our Govindaraya by the Blessings of Mantralaya Rayaru became Guru Govinda Dasaru- a Prime Devotee of Mantralaya Rayaru.
