Background
Marking
the 700th-year Aradhana of Sri Sri Padmanabhateertharu, the esteemed
Swamiji, H.H. Sri SubudhendraTeertharu of Sri Raghavendra Swamy
Mutt, conducted the Purva and Madhya Aradhane at NavaBrindavana.
The details of this grand event and the miraculous occurrence are
eloquently described in Mantralaya (1068).
Meaning
The
famed island of Anegundi, situated near Hampi and globally recognized
as Navabrindavana, holds the status of the most sacred and holy place.
Acknowledging the profound significance of this sanctum, the Nine Yatis
of Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mutt, in the lineage of Sri Madhwacharya
Parampara, have deliberately selected and aspired for this location,
seeking everlasting peace and tranquility.
NavaVrindana is a
sacred location where nine revered Madhwa Yatis reside in this serene
and holy space. These divine Yatis bestow their blessings upon the
world.

The
inaugural brindavana is a tribute to our esteemed Sri
Padmanabhateertharu, who entered the ashrama directly under the
guidance of Sri Acharya Madhwaru. Sri Padmanabhateertharu is
distinguished as the first Ashrama Shishya of Acharya Madhwaru, the
pioneering Advaita disciple converted by Acharya Madhwaru, the
principal commentator on Acharya Madhwaru's Granthas, the trailblazer
in disseminating the works of Acharya Madhwaru, and the first yati to
have Brindavana.
We joyously commemorated the 700th-year
Aradhana of Sri Sri Padmanabhateertharu. The revered Swamiji, H.H. Sri
Subudhendra Teertha Swamiji of Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mutt, conducted
the Purva (first day) and Madhya (second day) Aradhana with profound
devotion at the sacred Navabrindavana. The resonance of Vedic chants,
hymns, and Hari Dasa songs filled the air, creating a divine ambiance.
The enchanting melodies reached the ears of Goddess TungaBhadra,
infusing the surroundings with a calming coolness. Swamiji H.H. Sri
Subudhendra Teertharu's pooja seemed like a celestial celebration in
Vaikunta.
In the morning, H.H. Sri Subudhendra Teertharu
conducted the Nirmalya Visharjane and Panchamrutabhisheka ceremonies
for Sri Padmanabhateerthara, followed by Mudra Dharane. Subsequently, a
special Sri Moola Ramadevara Pooja and Maha Mangalarati were performed
for Sri Padmanabha Teertharu. The auspicious occasion witnessed a large
gathering of devotees who joined in the celebration. The Brindavana of
Sri Padmanabha Teertharu was adorned with a vibrant green Pavilion and
an array of colorful flowers. The evening of the first day featured
numerous devotional and cultural festivities. H.H. Sri
SubudhendraTeertharu delivered an enlightening discourse on the
greatness of Sri Padmanabhateertharu.
It appears that all nine
Yatis deliberately selected this sacred place for their yogic
practices, Japa, and Tapas within the sacred confines of the
Brindavana. The pure breeze and pristine waters of holy Anegundi not
only prove to be invigorating but also calming. Memories of the
Ramayana, Kishkindha, Vaali, and Sugreeva flash vividly in our minds.
In ancient times, the revered Saptarshis resided on this sacred island,
dedicating themselves to tapa and Japa for several centuries before
ascending to heaven, Swarga, with their mortal bodies. The profound
holiness and sanctity of this island led the esteemed Yatis of the Sri
Acharya Madhwa Raghavendra Swamy mutt Parampara to seek it for their
eternal peace and tranquility. Today, this island is renowned as
NavaBrindavana, drawing devotees from every corner of the globe. The
Nava Vrundavana, arranged in a circular form, comprises nine
Brindavanas of the Yatis.
At the center of all the Brindavanas,
we find the representation of Sri Hanuma Bheema Madhwaru, known as
Praanadevaru, facing the Brindavanas. Maruti is a pleasing presence on
this sacred land. Due to the residence of the nine sacred Yatis, it has
become NavaBrindavana. Upon arriving in Anegundi, a visit to Sri Rayara
Mutt is recommended to have darshana of the Mruttika Brindavana, where
Sri Raghavendrateertharu spent days with Sri Sudheendrateertharu. The
revered Gururayaru of Mantralaya had a fondness for Hampi and
NavaBrindavana. The Archaks of Anegundi NavaBrindavana Rayara Mutt
willingly guide visitors to NavaBrindavana, which can be reached by
crossing the Tungabhadra River, with boating facilities available on
the riverbank. The scenes during morning and evening boat rides, as
well as at the sanctum, are breathtaking, with a vast rocky bed and
Tungabhadra flowing on both sides with two distinct names for the
sacred teerthas.
A miraculous event unfolded as H.H. Sri
SubudhendraTeertharu embarked on a boat ride back to the opposite bank
on Dec 11, 2023. With unwavering devotion, Swamiji prayed to Sri
Padmanabhateertharu and Jayateertharu after completing the pooja,
seated on the boat alongside Moola Rama Devaru. To everyone's
astonishment, Swamiji and the passengers witnessed bulls suddenly
appearing and swimming over the water. They approached the boat
closely, seemingly expressing joy.As we are aware, Sri Jayateertharu
was born as a bull in a previous life and used to listen to the
teachings of Sri Madhwacharyaru. Now, the same Jayateertharu appeared
in the form of a bull, approaching the boat to convey his happiness
with the celebrations of his Guru Sri Padmanabhateertharu conducted by
H.H. Sri SubudhendraTeertharu. This event was reminiscent of similar
indications witnessed by Swamiji during previous poojas to Sri
Jayateertharu and Sri Padmanabhateertharu in the same location.
Miracles
unfold in this place when pure devotion resonates with the hearts of
sacred Madhwa Yatis. We consider ourselves fortunate to witness the
magnificent celebrations led by H.H. Sri SubudhendraTeertharu.
Let’s dig deep into why this entire Hami is so sacred in our next article and life story of Sri Padmanabhateertharu.
The devotion towards
Sri Raghavendrateertharu is the ultimate truth and is the most simple
and effective way to reach Sri Hari - "NAMBI KETTAVARILLAVO EE
GURUGALA"! “Those who have complete faith in this Guru will never be
disappointed.”
