The holy celebration of Uttarayana Punya Kaala on the bank of the Tungabhadra river in Mantralaya and Bhikshalaya Bichali and the miracle of Mantralaya Rayaru by Ibharamapura’s Appa are described here.
The auspicious Uttarayana Parvakaala Punyakaala is fast approaching on Jan.15th.Tuesday.In the Revati Nakshatra Sun is entering Makara Rasi,the dawn for the Gods. Satvikas celebrate this Uttarayana Parvakaala in their own ways.We the devotees of Mantralaya celebrate go to Mantralaya and Bichali, take a holy dip in the Tungabhadra river in Bichali, near the Japadakatti which is flowing forcefully and comfortable to the devotees for the Punyasnaansa. With complete devotion to Mantralaya Rayaru chant the Gurustotra of Bichali Sri Appanacharya. To perform the pathana of Gurustotra at the sanctum of Japadakatti we attain Siddhi immediately. While Gururaya was entering Brindavana in Mantralaya on Shraavana Bahula Bidige,at that time Appanacharya was neither in Mantralaya nor in Bichali. He was on Madhwa Sanchara. Hearing the shocking news rushed to the Bichali Japadakatti to cross the river Tungabhadra and reach Mantralaya, though the river was in full spate saying "Om Sri Raghavendraya Namaha", spontaneously saying Sri Raghavendra Gurustotra through Ashukavitva, which came from the bottom of his heart with affection towards his great Guru Raghavendra, Appanacharya was actually weeping as he could not tolerate the absence of his Guru in this world. Crossed the river and reached Mantralaya.Sitting in the Brindavana Rayaru heard the stotra of Appanacharya fully. Sri Vayudevaru inside the Brindavana completed the stotra saying Saakshi Hayastotrahi, which started from Bichali Japadakatti. So it is quite appropriate to perform the Ashtottara on this day of Uttarayana Punyakaala in Bichali at the sanctum of Japadakatti. We have to surrender completely with devotion to Rayaru, Appanacharya and the famous Ek Shila Brindavana of Rayaru a Jaagruta Siddhi kshetra where we find the Sanchara of Rayaru always even to this day. Uttarayana Punyakaala Parvakaala celebration will be paripurna when we take the divya darshana of Rayara Moola Brindavana in Mantralaya and the Pathana Sri Raghavendra Gurustotra at the sanctum of JAPADAKATTI. This holy act is most agreeable to Sri Hari Vayu Guru and enhanced the joy of all the satvikas.
It is quite heartening to know that today Sri Teertha Kshetra Japadakatti Bichali Appanacharya Ashtottara Shata Seva welfare trust is rendering a noble service to the world devotees by Ashtottara Pathana on the bank of the holy Tungabhadra river at the Japadakatti which was actually the Ugama Sthana of Gurustotra. This great project is being run neatly and precisely by Archaka Sri Badadha Ramacharya Bichali, the Vamshastharu of Bichali Sri Appanacharya and magnanimously distributing the puny to the devotees of the world.
On this day of Uttarayana Punyakaala we have to remember and express our gratitude to Ibharamapura’s Appa. Nandavar is situated near Ibharamapura.Nandavar Desai did not have santaana for a long time. They stayed in Mantralaya and performed the seva of Rayaru very strictly with devotion. One day during night Rayaru appeared in the dream of Desai and said that you will get the Santana if you feed one thousand Brahmins on the day of the coming Sadhanidwadashi. Desai felt extremely happy as he was quite well off! But the Sadhanidwadashi was remaining only two days that he has to go to Nandavar from Mantralaya and invite one thousand Brahmins for bhojana was a great task for the Desai. So worried a lot and explained the situation to the Mantralaya Brindavana Archakas. Archakas said When Rayaru has suggested this means, Rayaru will find a solution for you and not to worry. Desai prayed to Rayaru in front of the Brindavana and slept in Mantralaya that night. Rayaru appeared in the dream again and said you invite Ibharamapura’s Appa and feed on sadhanidwadashi that is equal to the feeding of one thousand Brahmins.
Nandavar Desai became extremely happy. Got up with a new zeal and enthusiasm. Praised the mercy of Rayaru how kind you are? And how great is our Ibharamapura’s Appa. Appa has accumulated the punya of one thousand Brahmins, what a great soul, by the time Desai was waiting to receive Appa for the sadhanidwadashi, Appa knew the whole thing as Appa was an Aparokshagnyani and knew the heart of Rayaru.Ibharamapura’s Appa was too close to Appa as Bhikshalaya Bichali Sri Appanacharya was too close. Appa gladly accepted their invitation and after pooja, naivedya took the food on the day of sadhanidwadashi. Ibharamapuradheesha Appa Blessed the couple.
Mantralaya Gurusarvabhoumaru made it clear to the whole world the ability of Ibharamapura’s Appa, that this single soul is more than equal to one thousand sadaachari Brahmins.After a few days Desai’s wife became pregnant and the joy of the satvika couple cannot be described in mere words. But she gave birth to the child when she was running the fifth month. Not grown properly looked like a mass of flesh. Desai couple came to Appa weeping, Appa came to the house of Desai. Consoled the couple and said that you got this by the Blessings of Mantralaya Sri Raghavendrateertharu and Rayaru will completely take care of the child. Saying Ibharamapura’s Appa took the child from the Desai couple and said that Rayaru will shape him and I will pray to Rayaru.
The Blessings of Mantralaya Rayaru and the best wishes of Appa will never go in vain. Appa took that mass of flesh and daily chanting the Bichali Sri Appanacharya’s Sri Raghavendra Gurustotra went on applying the Sacred Mruttika to the whole body of the child and poured the padodaka of Rayaru into the mouth. Continuously by doing this the mass of flesh turned into the shape of a handsome male child after a few months. Ibharamapura’s Appa’s happiness and joy knew no bonds. Appa said the wordings of our Dasas :

Mruttika of Mantralaya Rayaru proved Sanjeevini to the child of the Desai. The child became normal with the healthy growth. On an auspicious day Ibharamapura’s Appa called the Nandavar Desai couple and handed over the child to them. The couple were really surprised to see their son. Named the child as Srinivas. Srinivas shined the name of the Desai family.
Dear devotees we are all happy to know the Miracle of Mruttika of Mantralaya Sri Raghavendrateertharu. Today Manukula is bent with gratitude to the divine personality of Mantralaya Prabhu. As our Bichali Sri Appanacharya has said in Sri Raghavendra Mangalashtaka:
